At your door we separate iron, steel, aluminium, copper and brass, weigh each on the digital scale and price each on its own. If you are not sure what something is made of, we will show you how we tell — a magnet and a scratch test settle most of it.

Telling metals apart at home
A fridge magnet is the quickest tool you own. If it sticks firmly, it is iron or ordinary steel. If it does not stick, it is aluminium, copper, brass or stainless steel — the more valuable group.
Copper is reddish-brown, brass is yellow-gold and heavy, aluminium is light and dull grey. Keep the non-magnetic pieces in a separate bag before we arrive — it makes weighing faster and keeps the grades clean.

Why should metals be weighed separately?
