How the estimate is worked out

Each material carries a mid-point rate taken from our current rate list. The calculator multiplies your quantity by that rate and totals the lines. It deliberately uses the middle of each band rather than the top, so the figure is one you can plan against rather than one designed to look attractive.

What moves the real number

  • Grade. The single biggest factor. Bright copper and armature copper differ by more than ₹300 a kilo, and both are "copper".
  • Contamination. Oil on turnings, rubber in aluminium sections, iron mixed into a non-ferrous load — each pulls the rate toward the bottom of its band.
  • Market movement. Non-ferrous shifts daily. An estimate from three weeks ago is not the rate today.
  • Quantity. A modest effect. One large load is cheaper for us to collect than five small ones, and the rate reflects that.
Use it as a negotiating floor. Run your load through here, then get quotes from two or three buyers including us. If someone is well below this figure, ask them which grade they have put your material in — the answer is usually revealing.

About the calculator

Is the calculator result what I will actually be paid?

It is an estimate built on mid-point market rates, so treat it as a planning figure. What you actually receive depends on the grade your material falls into once it is sorted, and on the market on the day. In practice a well-sorted load usually lands within about 10% of the estimate.

What if my material does not match any category?

Pick the closest one and send us a photo. Mixed and unusual loads are normal — the calculator covers standard grades, and anything outside them we quote after looking at it.

Does the estimate include pickup and labour?

Yes. Our quoted rates are what you receive; collection, loading and transport are included for any lot above the minimum quantity. Nothing is deducted afterwards.
